If you just haven’t had the time to get to the gym and are just not feeling like tofu and salad then luckily there are ways with clever styling tricks and colour to look much, much slimmer! Most people who are heavier then normal reach for everything in black, which is an elegant colour, however, after a while can start to make you feel sombre and signals, if you’re wearing it everyday that you’re reaching for cover-ups. Do go for a more monochrome colour palette, typically darker colours are slimming so get creative, why not try chocolate, wine, plum or graphite. If you like to add interest with colour then the rule is to wear darker shades on your bottom half with more striking colours on top to draw attention to your face and away from your body. Avoid light colours and horizontal stripes as this can make the slimmest girl look curvy. If you have wide hips and a big bottom remember that a-line can sometimes accentuate your bigger area even further as it will balloon out at the back. A more flattering style could be a trumpet as it skims the bottom and hips and flares out at the lower part, drawing attention to your lower legs. If your tummy is slightly rounder then a peplum style could work wonders in concealing your pot belly! For tops slash necks will cleverly balance out wider hips and slight loose fit styles will skim problem areas like the tum and waist. Do not go for over-sized as this will make you look much heavier, equally anything too tight-fit will have the same effect, remember the bigger you are the more conscious you should be of correct sizing or even made-to-measure. Another great tip is to go for dresses and tops with overlays that will fall loosely over the tummy and add a delicate romantic effect to styling. If you have bigger arms try bell or poet sleeves that will gently conceal your problem area with a modern twist. Belts are fantastic body shapers but it is essential to know where to wear them. Larger, chunky belts can hide a curvier tummy and a belt that falls on the hips can make a big bottom look much smaller by fitting across it. Narrow belts should be worn below the bust when you are going for empire line dresses and tops or figure fixing maxi styles. Accessories are fantastic for adding interest and drawing attention to your face, try cute corsages, feather trims and interesting jewellery to play up your pretty features. |
